Eric Schoch

Interviewed September 2005
By: Becky Brill

Eric joined Photo Venture Camera Club in March 2005. He has been very active in participating in the club and has entered every competition since becoming active. Eric has shown a great deal of talent by placing in all competitions, but is excited about having two entries place in the August competition. He captured his first ribbons “On Topic."

Eric has worked in media relations at the School of Medicine for the past five years. Prior to that, he was with the Indianapolis Star for 21 years as a reporter. Eric got his start and much of his “hands on” photography training while working at a small newspaper in Lorraine, Ohio. His editor was big on photography and hired good photo-journalists. Eric says that much of what he learned about photography and darkroom techniques came from these photographers.

Eric started taking images about 30 years ago using a Minolta SLR outfit and taking black and white images. He processed his pictures in his own darkroom. He took a vacation from photography after his children were born, but came back to it about three years ago. He now has a Nikon D 100 but occasionally uses his Nikon F3 for black and white.

Eric strives to perfect his photography so that he can sell some of his images after he retires.

Photo Venture Camera Club has encouraged him to schedule time for photography. He encourages all members, new and old, to have fun with their images and keep at it.

Thanks for being a member in the spotlight Eric!
