Photo Workshop: Playing with Shadows

Where: Coxhall Gardens, Children’s pavilion, 11677 Towne Rd, Carmel, IN 46032

Learning Objectives:

• Understand how light and shadows interact to create dimension and mood in a photograph.

• Explore using various objects to cast creative and interesting shadows on the subject.

• Experiment with different light sources and angles to manipulate shadow shape and intensity.

• Develop creative problem-solving skills to achieve specific shadow effects.

Materials:

• Cameras (DSLRs, mirrorless, or smartphones)

• Tripod (optional, but recommended)

• Stands/Clamps (optional, but helpful)

• Various objects to cast shadows (e.g., lace doilies, leaves, geometric shapes cut from cardstock, wire mesh, string lights)
