My photo journey began as a 14-year-old in Bedford, Indiana, when I worked part-time at a photo store and hobby supply owned by two wonderful people. They introduced me to f-stops, shutter speeds, film types, Kodak prints and slides. They gave me a wonderful Minolta AL for my high school graduation. In college at Purdue University, I became Photo Editor of the Purdue yearbook for the 1968 edition. In 1979 I first joined PSA, knowing little about the organization but wanting to learn more. I believe I entered my first international exhibition into CPID with slides in about 1982. I achieved little success and knew I had to further ramp up my skills, subject matter and technique. Photography is never-ending improvement to the maximum, and I’m reminded of it every time I get results back from one of the many exhibitions or salons.
Headquarters for Eli Lilly & Company was Indianapolis, Indiana, and this is where we called home for many years beginning in In Indianapolis, I became active in the Riviera Camera Club and served as its president in the late 90’s for several yearsI also served a year as one of the instructors in Jon Fishback’s Individualized Photography course and currently serve as a participant in Digital Study Group 66, Infrared Photography. I served two years as Executive Vice President of PSA International in 2017-2018.
Photographically, I earned the PPSA in 2013, the EPSA shortly after and was awarded the MPSA at the 2014 Annual Convention in Albuquerque. The Grand Master PSA was awarded in 2016; GMPSA/B followed in 2024. The Federation of International Photographic Art (FIAP) awarded me the Platinum distinction (EFIAP/p) in 2022.
My wife Sarah and I have been married for 56 years and have three sons and 9 wonderful grandchildren.
