Delphi Opera House and Old Settler's Fest
107 S Washington St
Delphi, IN
August 13, 2022
Meet in front of the Opera House and (Alan McConnell's) Gallery. We will visit the Photography Show, tour the Opera House and check out the Old Settler's Fest on Courthouse Square (across the street).
The community is named for the ancient Greek community of Delphi. The Wabash and Erie Canal, constructed in the 1840s, allowed boats to pass from the Great Lakes to the Ohio River. Learn more about the unique history of this area by attending The Old Settler's Festival, centered in the courthouse square. Opera House Gallery will have a Photography Show and tours are offered along with carnival rides and crafts exhibits. The Canal Park Interpretive Center celebrates the history of the Canal. The volunteers at Pioneer Village offer walking tours of the Reed Case House. Reed Case was a contractor involved in the construction of the Canal. Today, his Federal-style residence is the centerpiece of a recreated village that includes many historic structures.
