Field Trip: Rack 'Em Up

  • Brickyard Billiards 6445 Old Washington Street Indianapolis, IN, 46231 United States (map)

This event is paid PVCC members only and will be limited to 10 participants. The date is set, but we are still finalizing the time.

Join PVCC for a unique photography opportunity at Brickyard Billiards in Indianapolis, where participants will have the chance to photograph an actual billiards competition in action. Hosted by photographer David Lawrence, this experience offers a front-row view of the excitement, precision, and intensity of competitive billiards.

Photographers will have the opportunity to capture the concentration of the players, the movement of the game, the dramatic lighting, and the candid moments that unfold around the tables. From tight shots of the balls and cues to the expressions, interactions, and atmosphere of the competition, this event provides a variety of subjects to explore photographic composition, timing, perspective, and storytelling.

Whether you're interested in sports photography, candid moments, or the challenge of capturing action in a dynamic indoor environment, this PVCC outing promises an engaging, hands-on experience. Bring your camera, experiment with your creative vision, and learn alongside fellow photography enthusiasts while documenting the energy of a live billiards competition.

David will conduct a brief PowerPoint presentation prior to the competition.

More about David

My name is David Lawrence and I'm a commercial photographer and photo retouch artist in Indianapolis, Indiana.  I started out studying photography at The Art Institute of Houston in the early 80's. I moved to Tulsa and began a career as a commercial photographer, but after I built my second darkroom, I found that I liked the darkroom as much, if not more than being behind the camera. Once the digital revolution arrived, I was destined to become a photo retoucher.

I have literally hundreds of hours of Photoshop training under my belt via NAPP, Kelby One, Phlearn and numerous live seminars, webinars and books. I often say I'm a better retoucher than photographer, but I'm certain my retouching skills lead to better evaluation and light management within a particular scene.  In retouching, as in photography, every detail matters.

I have an untiring love for photography and creating unique images that stand out in today's constant flow of poor photography disguised as better than nothing.  Please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss my rates and how I might help you bring your ideas to life or create new high quality images that will conspicuously promote your image and evolving style.

Sincerely,

David
